At last, we have confirmation! Also I know the full name of the account manager isn’t mentioned here for privacy purposes. However, I’ve been in communication with the OP for a while now and I do know his full name. I looked him up and he checks out and definitely works for PayPal for anyone who has any concerns on that front.

Just as an FYI: I was EXTREMELY skeptical of this whole thing when it started, but now that we have confirmation from PayPal themselves and several fans are in constant contact with them and SMGO, I’m really going to encourage people to try and pledge even a little bit. Which is why I’m offering artwork in exchange for pledges. Because hey, even if this doesn’t go through, you’ll have helped out a good cause and you’ll have free artwork from me.

Idk if it’s really a good idea to pursue this after warner bros has denied SMGO official permission? Like, i doubt it will lead to action. Apparently these ARE pledges only, and the money won’t be collected unless the studio okays it, but tbh I find it all fishy. SMGO has existed for all of two months, and the recipient on paypal IS listed as SMGO—so despite what they say about not being able to touch the money, UHHH yeah they actually could, pretty easily.
I find it worrisome that SMGO is framing the refusal as “they didn’t think we could do it,” when ACTUALLY SMGO wants the shows to be available exclusively through their website, meaning WB loses all broadcast rights except for international syndication. yeahhhhhh I cannot see WB ever agreeing to that.
Additionally, this appears aimed at bringing back YJ only, not gltas.
Read up and use caution, alright?
I going to use this as a springboard for some general clarification if that’s okay.
This raises some good points about the nature of the deal SMGO is trying to cut with WB, I’m not denying that. The statement about easily being able to touch the funds is incorrect as my original post clarifies, but the OP’s point still stands. Speculation about whether or not WB will agree to it is also irrelevant: we will never find out whether or not they will agree if we don’t get them back into negotiations, however it is ultimately up to you whether or not you feel confident in pursuing the campaign. All that this means is that we as campaign organizers feel confident enough in their claim to encourage people to pledge. This is after all bigger than just getting YJ back: the entire fate of SMGO is riding on this.
In the end though, it is of course your money and your choice what to do with it. No one should feel pressured or be pressuring others into one course of action or another. As the OP says, act with as much caution as you feel necessary, and do whatever is in your best interest.
